ALLIANCE, Ohio- Mount Union's men's swimming and diving team dropped their first meet of the season to non-conference opponent Westminster, 154-146, Saturday afternoon in the Hammond Natatorium.
The Purple Raiders (10-1) were led by Tyler Moore (Amherst/Amherst Steele) and Logan Palochak (Hopewell, Pa./Hopewell) who each placed first in three events on the day.
Moore won the 100 yard breaststroke (59.96) and the 200 yard IM (2:00.32) while Palochak placed first in the 200 yard butterfly (2:00.87), and the 100 yard butterfly (52.26). Both Moore and Palochak were included in the 200 yard medley relay win with a time of 1:36.55.
Also a part of the 200 yard medley relay were Tyler Fry (Massillon/Washington) and Alex Machovina (Amherst/Amherst Steele). Fry also placed first in the 100 yard backstroke (52.49).
Others placing first were Cole Ellsworth (Temperance, Mich./Bedford) in the 1650 yard freestyle (17:04.84) and Jack Ineson (Hudson/Hudson) in the 200 yard breaststroke (2:13.65).
Jarred Keirn (North Canton/Glenoak) placed first in the first round of 1 meter diving with a score of 117.76.
Mount Union heads to the University of Akron for the Ohio Athletic Conference championships starting Thursday, February 16 through Saturday, February 18.
