ALLIANCE, Ohio -- Mount Union's women's swimming and diving team defeated Baldwin Wallace by a score of 129-106 this afternoon in the Hammond Natatorium.
The Purple Raiders had seven different people win events on the afternoon led by senior Dana Lautenschleger (Solon/Solon) and freshman Lauren Stajcar (Strongsville/Strongsville). Lautenschleger won the 200 yard freestyle (2:00.85) and the 500 yard freestyle (5:22.09). Lautenschleger was also on the 200 yard freestyle relay team with sophomore Erin Bain (Beaver Falls, Pa. Blackhawk), senior Jenna Kassinger (Silver Lake/Cuyahoga Falls) and sophomore Elise Pichola (Rocky River/Rocky River) who won the race with a time of 1:45.45. Stajcar won the 200 yard IM and the 100 yard freestyle with times of 2:21.38 and 57.15, respectively. As the second swimmer in the 200 yard medley relay Stajcar helped lead the team of junior Lauren Oktavec (Brunswick/Brunswick), Jessica Hirsh (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) and Kassinger to a win with a time of 1:54.60.
Sophomore Alison Jacobs (Canton/GlenOak) won the 1650 yard freestyle with a time of 19:50.85 while Pichola won the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 26.42. Also winning events for the Raiders Lauren Oktavec and junior Regina Saxon (Hudson/Hudson). Oktavec won the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:03.09 while Saxon won the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:12.11. Recording a win in the second round of diving was freshman Sarah Hrycyk (Massillon/Jackson) with a score of 183.45.
The Raiders will be back in the pool November 30th through December 3rd at the Wooster Invitational.
