Wrestling: Eight is Great; #22 Raiders End 2017 at 8-0

GREENVILLE, Pa. - Nationally ranked No. 22 Mount Union defeated the Thiel Tomcats (2-1) by a score of 43-5 in a non-conference dual on Friday night from Beeghly Gymnasium.

The Purple Raiders won 9 of 10 matchups to improve to 8-0 overall and 2-0 in the OAC.

Mount Union recorded two tech falls and two pins in the match over the Tomcats. Wrestling at 133, Seth Hayes (Ravenna/Rootstown) defeated Justin Walter 18-3 and at 184, Isaiah Watson-Kirksey (Alliance/Alliance) defeated Seth McCrea 22-6 with just his second tech fall of the season and his career. With pins was Isaac Hendershot (Willoughby/Willoughby South) at 141 over Jason Miller in 0:58 and Mike Sinclair at 285 (Ellwood City, Pa./Lincoln) over Gavin Colligan in 1:27.

The Raiders are not in action again until after the New Year as they will participate in the Waynesburg Open on Saturday, January 6 at 10:00 AM.
