ALLIANCE, Ohio - The No. 9 ranked Mount Union wrestling team defeated Heidelberg 43-6 Tuesday night at the McPhearson Academic and Athletic Complex as they hosted a number of former Mount Union wrestlers for Alumni Night.
The Purple Raiders (11-1, 5-0 OAC) won 8 of 10 matches with a pair of tech falls and a pin. The pin came from freshman Michael McIntire (Wadsworth/St. Vincent-St. Mary) in 3:41 to give Mount Union a 29-0 head start over Heidelberg. With tech falls was No. 9 ranked senior Alec Cotton (Hartville/Lake) and junior Jairod James (Bedford/Bedford), both scoring 18 total points in their matches.
Heidelberg (7-7, 3-1 OAC) secured an overtime victory at 165 in Logan Broskie as well as a win in regulation by Christian Climer at 285.
Mount Union will next travel to Edinboro, Pa. to compete in the Edinboro Open on Saturday, February 3rd.
