ALLIANCE, Ohio -- No. 13 Mount Union defeated No. 9 Baldwin Wallace (0-1, 0-1 OAC) 31-14 Tuesday night in an Ohio Athletic Conference wrestling match at the McPhearson Academic and Athletic Complex.
The Purple Raiders (1-0, 1-0 OAC) opened the match with three straight victories. Sophomore Nolan Wochna (Brecksville/Brecksville-Broadview Hts.) kicked off the match at 125 pounds with a pin at 4:22 over Chad Craft. Sophomore 133-pounder Jordin James (Bedford) and freshman 141-pounder David Massey (Cuyahoga Falls/Woodridge) followed suit, taking down nationally-ranked No. 8 Dante Ginnetti and No. 10 Charlie Nash.
Sophomore Antwon Pugh Jr. (Fairlawn/Copley) tabbed Mount Union's second of three total pins against Richie Burke at 157 pounds. Junior Grant Martin (Hartville/Lake) wrapped up the match at 3:13 with a pin over Zachary Baker.
Mount Union competes next at the Southeast Duals Saturday in Salem, Va.
