ALLIANCE, Ohio--Mount Union's men's swimming and diving team fell to John Carroll by a final score of 171-129 in the home opener Saturday afternoon at Hammond Natatorium.

First place finishes came in the 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard backstroke, 200-yard backstroke and 200-yard breaststroke.

Junior Cole Ellsworth (Temperance, Mich./Bedford) collected the first Purple Raiders victory of the meet in the 200-yard freestyle with a recorded time of 1:47.92.

Also with first place victories was fellow classmate Logan Palochak (Hopewell), freshmen Owen Zimmerman (Crawfordsville, Ind./Southmont) and Isaiah Acosta (Buffalo, N.Y/St. Joseph).

Mount Union travels to Berea, Ohio on Friday, November 9 with a dual meet with Baldwin Wallace.
