ALLIANCE, Ohio -- No. 9 ranked Mount Union saw its streak of consecutive Ohio Athletic Conference dual meet wins stopped at 14 with a 27-14 loss to No. 6 ranked Baldwin Wallace Sunday in Timken Gymnasium.
The Purple Raiders (1-1, 1-1 OAC) last loss before today came at the hands of the Yellow Jackets -- a 22-9 defeat in Berea on Feb. 13, 2018. Ironically both teams had the same national rankings as today.
Baldwin Wallace (5-0, 5-0 OAC) won six of the 10 duals Sunday led by pins from nationally ranked wrestlers Dalton Leightner, No. 2 at 165, and Doug Byrne, No. 6 at 197.
Mount Union got wins from its three nationally ranked wrestlers as Jordin James (Bedford), the top ranked wrestler at 141 pounds, got a 15-8 win, Luke Hernandez (Nashport / Tri-Valley), ranked ninth at 149 scored a technical fall and David Massey (Cuyahoga Falls / Woodridge), ranked fourth at 133, scored a 7-5 win.
The Raiders other win came from Landon Talbert (Salem / Crestview) with a 3-2 win at 285 pounds.
