NEW CONCORD, Ohio – Mount Union picked up its first Ohio Athletic Conference win of the season with a 45-3 victory over Muskingum Tuesday at the Steele Center.

The Purple Raiders (2-5, 1-2 OAC) got wins in seven of the nine contested matches and picked up bonus points in all seven of those wins.

Muskingum (2-2, 1-2 OAC) avoided the shutout with a win from Noah DeHainaut at 197 pounds.

Jack Stanley (Brecksville / Brecksville-Broadview Heights), ranked No. 8 in the nation at 125 pounds, got the Raiders started with a pin at 125 pounds.

Mason McCarty (Alliance / Marlington) picked up a pin at 133 pounds and Mount Union was out to a 12-0 lead.

Jordin James (Bedford) almost scored a technical fall at 141 pounds but settled for major decision and the Raiders pushed the lead to 16-0.

Jordan Markowski (Fort Mill, S.C.) got a forfeit win at 149 while Jeff Dunfee (Ravenna) at 157 pounds nabbed another pin for Mount Union and the score was now 28-0.

Chris Anderson (Streetsboro) scored a technical fall victory at 165 which took the lead to 33-0.

Pins from Alex Carrothers (Carrollton) at 174 and George Lassnick (Painesville / Lake Catholic) at 184 finished the scoring for the Raiders with a 45-0 lead.

Muskingum got the win at 197 and neither team wrestled at 285.

Mount Union is back in action at the OAC Duals Sunday, Jan. 23 at Heidelberg in Tiffin. The Raiders compete against Otterbein, Wilmington and Heidelberg in conference dual matches.
