TIFFIN, Ohio -- Mount Union jumped out to an early lead but Heidelberg won five of the final six matches as the Purple Raiders lost 24-22 at the Ohio Athletic Conference Duals Sunday in Seiberling Gymnasium.

The Raiders win streak was stopped at three matches and they are now 4-6 and 3-3 in the OAC while Heidelberg moves to 6-4 overall and 4-2 in the OAC.

Overall, Mount Union won five of the nine contested matches but a pair of pins and a forfeit gave Heidelberg the bonus points needed to win the dual.

Four of those Mount Union wins came in the first four matches as  Errik Gerback (Alliance / Marlington) got a decision at 125, David Massey (Cuyahoga Falls / Woodridge) came up with a major decision at 133, Zach Berdysz (Perry) posted a pin at 141 and Luke Hernandez (Nashport / Tri-Valley) got a win at 141 pounds which got the Raiders out to a 16-0 lead.

Heidelberg got pins at 157 and 165 and a win at 174 to close the score to 16-15.

George Lassnick (Painesville / Lake Catholic) produced a pin at 184 which gave Mount Union a 22-15 lead but a Heidelberg win at 197 along with a forfeit win at 285 put the match away.

Mount Union returns to the mat next weekend at the Pete Willson Invitational at Wheaton College in suburban Chicago.
