Men's Swimming and Diving: Raiders Grab Saturday Victory Over Oberlin

OBERLIN, Ohio – Mount Union's men's swimming and diving team defeated Oberlin 170-114 in a dual meet on Saturday afternoon.
 
Top Finishers
  • 100-yard backstroke: Sophomore Jacob Hathaway (Lexington) won the event with a time of 52.81
  • 200-yard butterfly: Junior Michael Hubbard (Springfield, Va. / Homeschool) and senior Eli Holm (Murrysville, Pa. / Franklin Regional) took first and second with times of 1:57.19 and 2:02.28
  • 50-yard freestyle: Freshman Vinny Aldewereld (Valley City / North Royalton) won the event with a 21.95
  • 1-Meter Diving: Sophomores Joe Drsek (Kenston) and Brett Doehring (Humble, Tx. / Kingwood) took first and second with scores of 150.40 and 111.40
  • 3-Meter Diving: Drsek won the event with a score of 142.65
  • 100-yard freestyle: Sophomore Lucas Starling (Lexington) and freshman Bruce Beyer (Plymouth, Mich. / Plymouth-Salem) took first and second with 48.59 and 48.84
  • 200-yard backstroke: J. Hathaway took the victory in a time of 1:56.09
  • 200-yard IM: J. Hathaway won the event with a 1:58.43
  • 200-yard freestyle Relay: Aldewereld, Beyer, Starling and junior Conner Arneson (Mount Horeb, Wis. / Mount Hored) won with a 1:27.88
  • 200-yard Breaststroke: Freshman A.J. Quisno (Toledo / St. Francis De Sales) took second with a 2:19.11
  • 200-yard medley Relay: team consisting of J. Hathaway, Quisno, freshman Daniel Claxton (Georgetown, Guyana / West Demerara Secondary), and Aldewereld finished second in the event with a time of 1:39.63
  • 1,000-yard freestyle: Arneson finished second in the event with a 10:23.44
  • 200-yard freestyle: Junior Dylan Cossin (Stow / Stow-Munroe Falls) took second in the event with a 1:46.49
  • 200-yard butterfly: Hubbard took second with a 53.67
 
The Raiders are on the road again next when they travel to University Heights to take on John Carroll in an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup on Friday, November 3 at 6 p.m.
