WEST LIBERTY, W. Va. – The Mount Union men's wrestling team won a pair of dual meets as it competed in the Hilltopper Duals, hosted by West Liberty on Sunday.
 
Mount Union beat NCAA Division II schools Davis and Elkins, 41-12, and Fairmount State, 29-18.The Purple Raiders lost to No. 2 NCAA Division II West Liberty, 40-9, No. 11 Wabash, 28-16.
 
Senior Jack Stanley (Broadview Heights, OH / Brecksville-Broadview Hts.), who is No. 2 regionally-ranked, went 4-0 on the day at 125, including a big-time win over James Day of Wabash who is No. 6 in the nation (No. 1 in the Central Region). Also, going undefeated for Mount Union was freshman Steven Marra (Salem, Ohio / West Branch) at 285, with all first period pins.
 
Sophomore Darese Sparkman (Massillon, OH / Massillon Perry) at 149 and Nicholas Nettleton (Reading, PA / Exeter Township) at 157 (who is ranked No. 10 in the nation and No. 2 in the region) both went 3-1 on the day.
 
Mount Union is back in action in the UAA vs. OAC Challenge, hosted by Case Western on Saturday, Jan. 6.
