Men's Swimming: Raiders Pick Up Season Opening Win Over Saint Vincent

ALLIANCE, Ohio – Mount Union's men's swimming and diving team defeated Saint Vincent 160-99 in their season opener on Friday evening.

Top Finishers
  • 400-yard medley relay: team consisting of junior Jacob Hathaway (Lexington), junior Lucas Starling (Lexington), senior Michael Hubbard (Springfield, Va. / Homeschool) and sophomore Bruce Beyer (Plymouth, Mich. / Plymouth-Salem) won the event with a time of 3:37.42
  • 1000-yard freestyle: senior Dylan Cossin (Stow / Stow-Munroe Falls) won the event with a time of 10:28.56, junior Owen Zundell (Marietta) finished second with a time of 10:55.98 and senior Thomas Ginocchi (Oakdale, Pa. / West Allegheny) finished third with a time of 11:27.67
  • 200-yard freestyle: sophomore Cameron Burnett (Canfield) won the event with a time of 1:50.59, senior Mason Wilkson (Dayton / Chaminade Julienne) finished second with a time of 1:52.37 and junior Brett Doehring (Humble, Texas / Kingwood) finished third with a time of 1:57.79
  • 50-yard backstroke: Hathaway finished second with a time of 25.08
  • 50-yard breaststroke: sophomore AJ Quisno (Toledo / St. Francis De Sales) finished second with a time of 29.73
  • 100-yard butterfly: Hubbard won the event with a time of 54.00, sophomore Angelo Lawrence (Mooresville, Ind. / Center Grove) finished second with a time of 54.83 and sophomore Blayne Maurer (Canton / GlenOak) finished third with a time of 56.60
  • 50-yard freestyle: Starling finished second with a time of 22.24
  • 100-yard freestyle: Cossin won the event with a time of 48.48 and Beyer finished second with a time of 49.80
  • 100-yard backstroke: Hathaway won the event with a time of 55.23, Wilkson finished second with a time of 55.47 and junior Keith Turnbull (Stow / Stow-Munroe Falls) finished third with a time of 57.87
  • 100-yard breaststroke: Starling finished second with a time of 1:02.74
  • 500-yard freestyle: Burnett won the event with a time of 5:07.00, Zundell finished second with a time of 5:16.65 and Doehring finished third with a time of 5:23.90
  • 50-yard butterfly: Beyer won the event with a time of 24.41, sophomore Daniel Claxton (Georgetown, Guyana / West Demerara Secondary) finished second with a time of 24.65 and Hubbard finished third with a time of 25.52
  • 200-yard individual medley: Wilkson finished first with a time of 2:06.47 and Turnbull finished second with a time of 2:08.98
  • 400-yard freestyle relay: team consisting of Cossin, Hathaway, Beyer and Starling finished first with a time of 3:13.93
The Raiders are home again next when they host John Carroll on Friday, October 25 at 6 p.m. in Hammond Natatorium in Alliance.
