Men’s Wrestling: Raiders Dominate in Home-Opener Over Otterbein

ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Mount Union men's wrestling team won, 41-11, over Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) foe Otterbein in the Purple Raiders' home-opening dual on Tuesday.
 
The Purple Raiders had four pins on the night, highlighted by No. 3 regionally-ranked sophomore Steven Marra (Salem, Ohio / West Branch) who took down Billy Reed-Bodey, who was regionally ranked fifth, at 285. 
 
The three other pin victories were from junior Nolan Frye (Valley View, OH / Walsh Jesuit) at 133, sophomore Jacob Starkey (North Lima, OH / South Range) at 165, and sophomore Brayden McFetridge (Oil City, PA / Oil City) at 184.
 
Senior Bryce McCloskey (Greenville, PA / Reynolds), who's ranked No. 8 nationally and third regionally at 197, won by a technical fall over Muhammad Jallaq, 17-2.
 
Sophomore Nate Johnson (Pinellas County, FL / Pinellas Park) won by decision, 4-2, while senior Mason McCarty (Alliance, OH / Marlington) won by decision, 11-9. Sophomore Mason Taylor (Millersburg, OH / West Holmes) won by forfeit at 125. 
 
Mount Union's next meet will be on Saturday, Dec. 21 when the Purple Raiders travel to Hendersonville, TN to compete in the Gator Boot Duals, hosted by Luther College.
