CANTON, Ohio – The Mount Union baseball team erased a 5-1 deficit and won 8-6 over La Roche in a non-conference game at Thurman Munson Memorial Stadium on Wednesday.
The Purple Raiders (15-6) were down 5-1 after three innings of play, however, exploded with a six-run fourth inning to take a lead they did not relinquish.

Eric Schilling (Stow, Ohio / Stow-Munroe Falls) and freshman
Luke Ickes (Green, Ohio / Green) were behind the offensive surge in the fourth as Schilling had a two-run single and Ickes connected on a 3-run double to right center field.
Junior
Chris Phillips (Elyria, Ohio / Elyria Catholic) improved to 2-1 after coming in for relief, pitching 3.1 scoreless innings and only allowed one hit, to go along with five strikeouts. Senior
Jaired Lehman (Monroeville, Pa. / Gateway) earned the save with three strikeouts in an inning of work.
Mount Union is back in action Saturday, April 6 with a home OAC doubleheader versus Otterbein, starting at 1 p.m.
