CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Mount Union men's wrestling team competed at the Bob Del Rosa Ohio Intercollegiate Open, hosted by Case Western Reserve on Sunday.
Mount Union had an impressive group of underclassmen compete, led by sophomore Jamie Norris (Canton, OH / Massillon Perry), who finished second at 149. Freshman Jack DeBoe (Mentor, OH / Mentor) placed sixth after hitting the six-match limit. The Purple Raiders finished sixth out of 21 schools.
Also competing for the Raiders were sophomore Camryn Mitchell (Louisville, OH / Marlington) (125), freshman Aidan Pastor (Madison, OH / Madison) (125), freshman Layne Armstrong (Chapel Hill, NC / Seaforth) (133), sophomore Bryce Russell (Medina, OH / Medina) (141), freshman Ben Brownfield (Canton, OH / McKinley) (149), freshman Shawn German (Salem, OH / Salem) (149), freshman Joseph Kana (Salem, OH / Salem) (149), freshman Cole Lintner (Amesbury, MA / Whittier Regional Vocational Technical) (149), freshman Giovanni Duniec (Cleveland, OH / Padua Franciscan) (157), sophomore Carter Hill (Alliance, OH / Marlington) (157), Alexander Poll (Perrysburg, OH / Perrysburg) (157), freshman Alec Brodbeck (Hudson, OH / Hudson ) (174), and sophomore Kamron Cargil (Andover, OH / Pymatuning) (285).
Mount Union will next wrestle at Muskingum on Wednesday, Nov. 12, for its season-opening Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) dual opener with a 7 p.m. start.
