Ryan McClure Named Head Tennis Coach

| By:
ALLIANCE, Ohio – Ryan McClure has been named the head coach for men's and women's tennis at the University of Mount Union.

"It is truly an honor to be the head tennis coach at the University of Mount Union," McClure said. "I want to express my deepest gratitude to Director of Athletics Mr. Parnell for putting his faith in me and trusting me to lead this program, and to President King for his support. As I embark on this new chapter in my career, I aspire to give back to the program and the university that has given so much to me."

McClure, a finance major at Mount Union, was a three-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) selection as a student-athlete. The native of Ashtabula, Ohio, was an assistant coach for the Purple Raiders last season.

"This is an exciting opportunity for Ryan in accepting his first head coaching position," Parnell said. "As a former student-athlete, Ryan brings energy, passion, and relevant experience that will put this tennis program on a solid path forward."

Off the court, McClure was a two-time Academic All-OAC and was named College Sports Communicators All-District.

A three-sport athlete at Lakeside High School, McClure's additional experience includes being a counselor at Andy Findlay's Intense Tennis Camps among other instructional camps. He also currently serves as a "Go-To-Raider," which helps prepare students setting up classes with additional support.

McClure will be pursuing his master's degree in education with a concentration in athletic coaching at Mount Union.

The Purple Raiders start their 2025-26 season on Monday, September 15, at Washington and Jefferson at 4 p.m.
