ALLIANCE, Ohio – Mount Union's women's swimming and diving team defeated Wilmington 176-56 in an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup on Saturday afternoon.
It was senior day at Mount Union, so prior to the meet beginning seniors
Abby Calaway (Berea / Berea-Midpark),
Claire Fried (Kent / Kent Roosevelt),
Jordyn Miller (Strongsville),
Isabelle Parr (Brunswick),
Olivia Smith (Cuyahoga Falls),
Kayla Stewart (Marietta),
Nina Veldt (Holland, Mich.) and
Estella Woodworth (Amherst / Steele) were all honored.
Top Finishers
- 400-yard medley relay: team consisting of Calaway, sophomore Riley McCombs (New Middletown / Springfield Local), freshman Tanya Hensley (Oregonia / Lebanon) and Parr won the event with a time of 4:19.42, while the team of freshman AJ Sliman (Amherst / Marion L. Steele), junior Hannah Royer (Bristow, Va. / Patriot), Stewart and freshman Chloe Parr (Brunswick) finished second with a time of 4:25.86
- 1000-yard freestyle: junior Emma Ackerman (Knoxville, Tenn. / Knoxville Catholic) won the event with a time of 12:24.37 and junior Julia Basista (Boardman) finished second with a time of 12:32.30
- 200-yard freestyle: freshman Rydell Reif (Buffalo, N.Y. / Sweet Home) won the event with a time of 2:08.37, while sophomore Peyton Sisler (Warren / Howland) and freshman Grace Blachly (Powell / Olentangy Liberty) finished second and third with times of 2:09.37 and 2:12.85 respectively
- 100-yard backstroke: freshman Anna Eisentraut (Cuyahoga Falls) won the event with a time of 1:08.36 while freshman Elena Mackall (Salem / Columbiana Exempted Village) and Miller finished second and third with times of 1:08.38 and 1:09.24 respectively
- 100-yard breaststroke: McCombs won the event with a time of 1:13.03 while Royer and Smith finished second and third with times of 1:16.93 and 1:17.68 respectively
- 200-yard butterfly: Veldt won the event with a time of 2:32.85 while sophomore Lizzie Sonntag (Amherst / Marion L. Steele) finished second with a time of 2:33.49
- 50-yard freestyle: Parr, I. won the event with a time of 25.95 while Hensley and Woodworth finished second and third with times of 27.80 and 30.83 respectively
- One-meter dive: Fried won the event with a score of 188.17 while freshman Findlay Hollinger finished second with a score of 151.42
- 100-yard freestyle: Calaway won the event with a time of 54.35 while McCombs and Sliman finished second and third with times of 58.65 and 1:00.73 respectively
- 200-yard backstroke: Sisler won the event with a time of 2:26.70 while Mackall and sophomore Addison Reynolds (North Benton / Bio-Med Science Academy) finished second and third with times of 2:30.57 and 2:31.36 respectively
- 200-breaststroke: Basista won the event with a time of 2:44.55
- 500-yard freestyle: Blachly won the event with a time of 5:47.88
- 100-yard butterfly: Stewart, Veldt and Parr, C. finished first, second and third with times of 1:05.55, 1:07.34 and 1:09.07 respectively
- 200-yard individual medley: Reif, Parr, I. and Hensley finished first second and third with times of 2:26.54, 2:27.81, 2:31.83 respectively
- 400-yard freestyle relay: team consisting of Calaway, Basista, Woodworth and Parr, I. finished first with a time of 4:07.55 while the team consisting of Miller, Veldt, Woodworth and Stewart finished second with a time of 4:14.51
The Raiders hit the road next when they travel to New Wilmington, Pa. on Saturday, January 24 to take on Westminster at 1 p.m.
