Men's Swimming: Raiders Dominate Westminster in Road Win

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – Mount Union's men's swimming and diving team defeated Westminster 215-43 in a non-conference matchup on Saturday afternoon.

Top Finishers
  • 200-yard medley relay: team consisting of junior Mason Currier (North East, Pa.), freshman Jackson Hodkey (Mentor), sophomore Andrew Popovic (Twinsburg) and junior Evan Kemp (North East, Pa.) won the event with a time of 1:45.33
  • 1650-yard freestyle: junior Cameron Burnett (Canfield) won the event with a time of 17:49.79 and freshman Leo Iacovetta (Mayfield) finished second with a time of 18:08.80
  • 200-yard freestyle: senior Owen Zundell (Marietta) won the event with a time of 1:50.63 while Popovic and freshman Michael Styn (Ellwood City, Pa. / Riverside) finished second and third with times of 1:53.62 and 1:57.23 respectively
  • 100-yard backstroke: Hodkey won the event with a time of 54.87 and freshman Ethan Harvey (Macedonia / St. Ignatius) finished second with a time of 55.30
  • 100-yard breaststroke: senior Lucas Starling (Lexington) won the event with a time of 1:02.40 while freshman Nate Campbell (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Northgate) and junior Angelo Lawrence (Mooresville, Ind. / Center Grove) finished second and third with times of 1:06.65 and 1:08.57
  • 200-yard butterfly: senior Jacob Hathaway (Lexington) won the event with a time of 2:06.32 and senior Keith Turnbull (Silver Lake / Stow-Munroe Falls) finished second with a time of 2:10.38
  • 50-yard freestyle: Kemp won the event with a time of 22.19 and junior Daniel Claxton (Georgetown, Guyana / West Demerara Secondary) finished second with a time of 23.35
  • 100-yard freestyle: Kemp won the event with a time of 47.80 and freshman Isaac Tennant (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Moon) finished second with a time of 49.11
  • 200-yard backstroke: Turnbull finished second with a time of 2:06.30
  • 200-yard breaststroke: junior AJ Quisno (Toledo / St. Francis De Sales) won the event with a time of 2:18.36 while freshman Brenton Fowler (Reynoldsburg) and Popovic finished second and third with times of 2:27.74 and 2:38.92 respectively
  • 500-yard freestyle: Starling won the event with a time of 5:07.16 and Hathaway finished second with a time of 5:10.32
  • 100-yard butterfly: freshman Trey Nickoli (Lexington) won the event with a time of 56.46 while Currier and freshman Joe Hathaway (Lexington) finished second and third with times of 57.20 and 57.56
  • 200-yard individual medley: Tennant won the event with a time of 2:05.61 while Hathaway, Jo. and Quisno finished second and third with times of 2:09.96 and 2:15.21
  • 400-yard freestyle relay: team consisting of Campbell, Claxton, Burnett and Starling won the event with a time of 3:20.44 and the team consisting of senior Brett Doehring (Houston, Texas / Kingwood), Zundell, Turnbull and Hathaway, Ja. finished second with a time of 3:20.47
The Raiders hit the road again next when they travel to Ada, Ohio on Saturday, January 31 to take on Ohio Northern in an Ohio Athletic Conference contest at 1 p.m.
