WHEATON, Ill. – The Mount Union men's wrestling team wrapped up its trip at the Pete Willson-Wheaton Invitational on Saturday with three place finishers.
As a team, the Purple Raiders placed 13 out of 29 teams with 44 points.
Junior
Steven Marra (Salem, Ohio / West Branch) placed fourth at 285, while senior
Nolan Frye (Valley View, OH / Walsh Jesuit) at 133 and freshman
Aiden Stecker (Salem, OH / Salem) at 165 both placed eighth.
Marra, who is no. 12 nationally ranked, lost to the fourth-ranked Logan Flynn from Arcadia before beating no. 4 regionally ranked Nicholas Cook from Roanoke and losing to no. 10 nationally ranked Markos Mihalopoulos out of UW-La Crosse in the third-place match.
Also competing for Mount Union were freshman Mason Taylor (Millersburg, OH / West Holmes) at 125, freshman
Giovanni Duniec (Cleveland, OH / Padua Franciscan) at 157, and junior
Jacob Starkey (North Lima, OH / South Range) at 174.
Mount Union will next host Wilmington in an OAC dual match on Tuesday, Feb. 10, for its home finale at 7 p.m.
