Men's Swimming: Raiders Lead After First Day at OAC Championships

AKRON, Ohio – Mount Union's men's swimming and diving team finished in first place after the first day of the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships at Ocasek Natatorium on Thursday evening.

The Purple Raiders finished with a team score of 293, which has them 31 points ahead of second place Ohio Northern.  

All-OAC Finishers
  • 200-yard freestyle relay: team consisting of freshman Ethan Harvey (Macedonia / St. Ignatius), freshman Isaac Tennant (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Moon), senior Jacob Hathaway (Lexington) and senior Lucas Starling (Lexington) won the event and broke the school record with a time of 1:22.72
  • 800-yard freestyle: team consisting of Tennant, junior Cameron Burnett (Canfield), junior Evan Kemp (North East, Pa. / North East) and Starling won the event and broke the school record with a time of 6:47.90
  • 500-yard freestyle: freshman Leo Iacovetta (Mayfield) finished third with a time of 4:39.62
  • 200-yard individual medley: Kemp won the event and broke the school record with a time of 1:52.02 and Hathaway finished second with a time of 1:52.67
  • 50-yard freestyle: Harvey finished third with a time of 20.85
  • 400-yard medley relay: team consisting of Hathaway, freshman Trey Nickoli (Lexington), Kemp and Harvey won the event and broke the school record with a time of 3:20.11

The Raiders continue the OAC Championships tomorrow with prelims beginning at 10 a.m. followed by diving at 2 p.m. and finals at 6 p.m. at Ocasek Natatorium in Akron.
