TIFFIN, Ohio – In the sport's first season as an official NCAA Championship sport, the Mount Union women's wrestling team represented at the NCAA Regionals this weekend with a top-10 team finish, led by freshman
Abigail Mozden (Alliance, OH / Alliance), who qualified for the 2026 NCAA Championships and led a total of four Mount Union All-Region honorees.
Mount Union, under the guidance of second-year head coach
Clay Wenger, finished eighth out of 38 teams with 56.5 points.
Mozden finished runner-up at 131 and will compete at the NCAA Championship in Coralville, Iowa in two weeks. Mozden beat returning runner-up Yele Aycock out of North Central by a score of 13-4.
Also for Mount Union, junior
Lyndsee Young (Mansfield, OH / Madison Comprehensive) at 207 and freshman
Gabrielle Gartin (Alliance, OH / Chippewa) at 124 both finished sixth. Sophomore
Emma Hanrahan (Tipp City, OH / Tippecanoe) placed fourth at 160.
The NCAA Regional Four was held at Tiffin University. The top three athletes at each of the ten weight classes qualified for the national tournament.
The 2026 NCAA Women's Wrestling Championship is scheduled for March 6–7, 2026, at Xtream Arena in Coralville, Iowa, and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
