MARIETTA, Ohio - The No. 8 nationally ranked Mount Union baseball team swept Marietta College in an Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) doubleheader on Wednesday, improving to 12-2 in OAC play and 28-6 overall.

The 28 wins join the teams of 2025, 2021, and 2012 for the second most in a season in program history. The 2017 has the school record for wins in a season with 31.

The Purple Raiders won game one, 5-2, and game two, 6-3, in seven innings.

In game one, starting pitcher junior
Ty Dennison (Hudson, OH/Hudson) dominated the mound, pitching a complete 9.0 innings and tallying a career-high 12 strikeouts while allowing only five hits and two earned runs. Dennison earned his seventh win of the season, improving to a perfect 7-0. The Purple Raiders broke through in the second inning when OAC Hitter of the Week junior
Trevor Szekely (Canal Fulton, OH / Northwest) launched a two-run home run to left field, his sixth of the season. Sophomore
Daniel Tome III extended the lead to 3-0 with a sacrifice fly in the third inning. After adding a run on a wild pitch in the fifth inning, Tome III hit a double in the eighth inning, scoring on an RBI single by junior
Drew Denham (Alliance, OH / Marlington). Marietta's only scoring came in the bottom of the ninth on a two-run home run by Zack Molloy.

In game two, starting pitcher and OAC Pitcher of the Week junior
Luke Ickes (Green, OH / Green) also improved to 7-0 on the season, pitching 5.2 innings and striking out a career-high 11 batters—his second straight game with double-digit strikeouts. Marietta struck first with an RBI double from Diego DeCello in the bottom of the first inning. Mount Union responded to tie the game in the top of the second when Denham scored on a double play and then took the lead in the third inning on a solo home run by freshman
Jake Jung (Westlake, OH / Westlake), the first of his collegiate career. The Purple Raiders took a 6-1 lead with a four-run fifth inning. The scoring spree featured a sacrifice fly from Ickes, an RBI single from Tome III, and a two-run home run to left field by
Chris Tsouras (Las Vegas, NV / Arbor), his team-leading ninth of the season. Marietta's Molloy hit a two-run single in the bottom of the fifth. Junior
Christopher Maurer entered in relief (Hudson, OH/Hudson) to record the final out for Mount Union, earning his fourth save of the season and sealing the 6-3 win.
