ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Mount Union women's tennis team hosted Capital on Senior Day on Saturday. The Purple Raiders lost in a thriller, 4-3, coming down to a singles competition.
The match was tied 3-3 after the Comets won the doubles point and the No. 1 and No. 3 singles matches, while the Raiders secured victories in the No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6 singles matches.
At the No. 2 singles, sophomore
Jillian Lohnes (Alliance / Alliance) won set one in tie-breaking fashion, 7-6 (8-6), before Annika Hansen won set two, 6-1, and the match-deciding set three, 6-4.
Junior
Emily Borchert (Richfield / Holy Name) won No. 4 singles in three sets, 6-2, 4-6, 6-2. Sophomore
Hannah Neely (Hartville / Lake) won No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-0, and senior
Chloe Bancroft (Madison / Madison) won No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-4.

The Raiders have locked the fourth seed in the 2026 OAC Tournament and will play the one seed Ohio Northern on Friday, May 1 in the Semifinals. The time depends on the weather; if it's outdoors, the time is 1 p.m.; if it's indoors, the time will be 11 a.m. The OAC Tournament will take place at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio.
