SALISBURY, Md. – The No. 14 Mount Union baseball team lost, 4-1, to Hobart in the NCAA Tournament opening round on Friday, in the four-team double elimination regionals hosted by Salisbury University.
Hobart (31-13) started the game with three runs in the first and added another run in the second to lead 4-0 through three innings.
Sophomore
Daniel Tome III (Cleveland, OH / St. Edwards) scored the Mount Union run in the seventh with a sacrifice fly, bringing home freshman
Jake Jung (Westlake, OH / Westlake).
Junior
Ty Dennison (Hudson, OH / Hudson) (9-1) got the loss, his first of the season, throwing six innings, giving up three earned runs off seven hits, and striking out four. Freshman
Cole Jung (Westlake, OH / Westlake) finished the game strong in relief with three hitless innings.
Mount Union, under the guidance of 30th-year head coach
Paul Hesse, is playing in their third NCAA Tournament ever in program history and second straight (2026, 2025, and 2013).
Host school No. 6 Salisbury beat Bridgewater State, 11-2, in Friday's first game. The Purple Raiders (31-11) will play Bridgewater State on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. in the first elimination game.
