SALISBURY, Ohio—The No. 14 Mount Union baseball team concluded its NCAA Tournament trip on Saturday.
The Purple Raiders lost 10-1 to Hobart in the second elimination game.
Mount Union, under the leadership of 30th-year Head Coach
Paul Hesse, finished the season 32-12 overall—its most wins in program history.
Against Hobart on Saturday, junior
Drew Gernert (Mequon, WI / Homestead) (4-3) got the start, pitching 2.2 innings, giving up two runs off three hits, and striking out three. Sophomore
Derek Curry (Pittsburgh, PA / West Allegheny) scored the Mount Union run with an RBI-single in the ninth.
Earlier on Saturday, the Raiders beat Bridgewater State, 15-6—the most runs by the Purple Raiders in an NCAA Tournament game in its second-ever NCAA Tournament victory.
The Purple Raiders advanced to their third NCAA Tournament ever in program history, including in back-to-back years (2026, 2025, and 2013).
