ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Mount Union men's tennis team hosted Penn State Behrend in its home opener and lost 4-3, the match coming down to the final singles.
Mount Union won the doubles point as sophomore
Gabe McDade-Povick (Dover, OH / Dover) and freshman
Myles Colgan (Geneva, OH / Geneva) won No. 1 doubles (6-2) and senior
Jacob Timonere (Ashtabula, OH / St. John) and junior
Isaac Riddell (Geneva, OH / Geneva) won No. 3 doubles (6-2).
Freshman
LJ Stark (Geneva, OH / Geneva) won No. 4 singles, 6-4, 7-5, and sophomore
Carson Arfaras (Canfield, OH / Canfield) won No. 5 Singles, 7-5, 6-1. The match came down to the final singles and Penn State Behrend's Luke Vunora rallied to win 5-7, 7-5, 6-4.
Mount Union (0-3) is back on the courts with a home match against Mount Vernon Nazarene on Saturday, Oct. 3, with a 1 p.m. start.
