WESTERVILLE -- Mount Union's men's basketball team scored a 79-67 road win at Otterbein in an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup Saturday at the Rike Center.

The Purple Raiders used a 13-0 run over the end of the first half and start of the second half to take a double digit lead and improve to 12-3 overall and 7-1 in the OAC.

Collen Gurley (Akron / Hoban) had a game-high 18 points and led five Mount Union players in double figures. Nathan Bower-Malone (Stow) had 14, D'Vontay Friga (Cuyahoga Falls) had 11, Chris Painter Jr. (Akron / St. Vincent-St. Mary) had 10 while Logan Hill (Massillon / Jackson) had 10 points and a career-high 14 rebounds.

Mo Beavers had 17 points to pace Otterbein (4-11, 1-7 OAC).

Mount Union controlled the game early as a Hill layup gave the Raiders a 20-15 lead with 9:23 left in the first half. The Cardinals then out-scored Mount Union, 16-8, over the next seven minutes and Otterbein led 31-28 with 1:46 remaining before halftime. Mount Union finished the period on a 9-0 run as John Carroll (Massillon / Tuslaw) had four points over the stretch and Tanner Slack (New Concord / John Glenn) hit a running three-pointer at the halftime buzzer to give the Raiders a 37-31 lead at the break.

The second half started with a Gurley jumper and a Bower-Malone steal turned into a pair of free throws as Mount Union pushed the lead out to double digits, 41-31. Otterbein rallied to within five, 43-48 with 15 minutes to go before a bucket from Friga and five-straight points from Gurley put the game away.

Mount Union next closes out the first half of OAC play hosting No. 8 Marietta Wednesday, Jan. 22 at 7 p.m. in Alliance.
