WOOSTER, Ohio – Mount Union's men's swimming and diving team took first place in a tri-match against Thomas More and Wooster Saturday at Wooster High School.
The Purple Raiders (5-1, 1-1 OAC) defeated Wooster (3-1) 201-90 and Thomas More (0-6) 240-21.
Mount Union was led by freshman Jason Tondra (Canton / Massillon Jackson) with three first place finishes in the 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard freestyle, and the 200-yard freestyle relay with help from sophomore Brian Regovich (Willowick / Eastlake North), senior Cole Ellsworth (Temperance, Mich. / Bedford), and senior Logan Palochak (Hopewell, Pa. / Hopewell).
Other first place finishes came from 200-yard medley relay team freshman Charles Marshall (Painesville / Riverside), sophomore Nick Dye (Massillon / Massillon Jackson), junior Derek Currey (McDonald, Pa. / West Allegheny), and Regovich, sophomore Brett Scheib (Gibsonia, Pa. / Hampton) in the 1000-yard freestyle and 500-yard freestyle, sophomore Isaiah Acosta (Buffalo, N.Y. / St. Joseph) in the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke, Nathan Williams (Columbia, S.C. / Irmo) in the 200-yard butterfly and 200-yard IM, Palochak in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly, and Marshall in the 400-yard IM.
Mount Union continues action swimming December 5-7 at the Wooster Invitational.
