DELAWARE, Ohio -- Mount Union's men's track and field team, ranked No. 18 in the nation, won six events and placed second at the All-Ohio Championships Saturday at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio.
The Purple Raiders tallied 121 points which left them 42 points behind first place Ohio Wesleyan.
Five of Mount Union's six event winning marks are among the top 11 marks in NCAA Division III this season.
Headlining the winners was the 4x400 meter relay team of Tyler Neff (Navarre/Fairless), Clark Etzler (Elida/Elida), Tyson Gentry (Louisville/Louisville) and Tyler Sparks (Norwalk/Norwalk) that posted a season-best time and the second-best time in the nation this year at 3:16.56.
Four season best marks highlighted the other event winners as Zack Wukotich (Salem/Salem) was fifth best nationally winning the high jump at 6-8, Connor Troyer (Sugarcreek/Garaway) won the 110 meter hurdles at 14.73, 10th best in the NCAA Division III, Ty Menear (Brunswick/Brunswick) won the 3,000 steeplechase at 9:19.45, 11th in the nation while Brad Keller (Findlay/Liberty-Benton) won the javelin at 185-4.
Tyler Orewiler (Bucyrus/Colonel Crawford) won the pole vault at 16-4 as the final event winner.
Two other finishes ranked as NCAA provisional marks as Neff and Gentry also ran with Andrew Shrewsbury (Woodville/Woodmore) and Louis Berry (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shadyside Academy) to place second in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 41.72 that is eighth in the nation.
Tyler Shumate (Wapakoneta/Spencerville) was second hammer throw with a mark of 183-11 that sits seventh best nationally.
Jaquill Scott (East Hanover, N.J./Hanover Park) was the other top three finish on the day as he placed third in the javelin at 178-2.
Mount Union competes next weekend at the Sparky Adams Invititational at Baldwin Wallace in Berea, Ohio.
