Mount Union Sends 17 to NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships
The University of Mount Union will send 17 student-athletes (12 men and 5 women) to the 2018 NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships Thursday-Saturday, May 24-26 at The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
The top eight finishers in each event earn All-American honors. The top 20 male and top 22 female times/marks in each event along top 16 relay teams in the nation have qualified for the meet.
Mount Union's men's team, ranked No. 12 in the nation, heads into the meet after winning the indoor national title earlier this year. The Purple Raiders were third at the outdoor meet a year ago and won the national outdoor title in 2014.
Sophomore AJ Digby (Tontogany / Otsego) is qualified in three events -- the 400 meters, which he is seeded seventh nationally along with being a member of the 4x400 and 4x100 meter relay teams. A four-time All-American, Digby has run the anchor leg on two national titles in the 4x400 meter relay at last year's outdoor meet and this year's indoor meet.

Three-time All-American sophomore Mason Plant (Shreve / Triway) sits as the fourth seed in the 110 meter hurdles. He placed third in this same event a year ago and won the 60 meter hurdle national indoor title this past March.
Mount Union's four other entries are all in the field events and highlighted by three returning All-Americans.
Sophomore Matt Keim (Boliver / Tusky Valley) is seeded third in the pole vault. He competed in the pole vault at the outdoor championships a year ago and was second in the nation in the event at the indoor championships earlier this year.
Senior Jaquill Scott (East Hanover, N.J. / Hanover Park) makes the national meet for a third straight year throwing the javelin. This year he is seeded fourth and placed fourth in the event last year.

Also back from that championship relay team from a year ago is senior Katie Goedecke (Cuyahoga Falls / Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary) and sophomore Daijana Johnson (Alliance).
