WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Mount Union, ranked No. 3 in the nation, extended its streak of team titles to nine at the All-Ohio Indoor Track and Field Championships Saturday at Otterbein University in Westerville.
Mount Union finished with a total score of 155.5 with second place Otterbein finishing with 96 points.
The Purple Raiders won four events including the men's 60-meter hurdles where seniors Connor Troyer (Sugarcreek / Garaway) and Mason Plant (Shreve / Triway) finished first and second with times of 8.02 and 8.04. Plant in the prelims ran an 8.02 which now puts both men in the top spot in the nation.
Mount Union picked up a first and third place finishes in the triple jump with freshman Brody Coleman (Knox, Pa. / Keystone) and sophomore Jacob Shedd (Murrysville, Pa. / Franklin Regional). Coleman set a new personal record with 46-feet 8.25-inches which currently sits tied for 18th in the nation.
Mount Union won the 4x200-meter relay in a time of 1:30.46 with freshman Matt McBride (Conneaut), sophomore Tyler Gill (Greenville, Pa. / Reynolds) and seniors Isaac Phillips (Milford, Mich. / Milford) and AJ Digby (Tontogany / Otsego)
Rounding out the scoring for the Raiders were a trio of third place finishes from Storm in the 200-meters, junior Jeremiah Gyulai (Stow) in the eight throw and the 4x400-meter relay team consisting of senior Mitchell Milem (Columbus / St. Charles), junior Montrell DeVaugh (Canton / Canton McKinley), sophomore Dylan Campbell (Cuyahoga Falls), and freshman Justin Knoch (Canton / Glen Oak).
Mount Union hosts the Raider Tune-Up next Saturday at Peterson Fieldhouse before the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships on Feb. 28-29 at Marietta College.
