ALLIANCE, Ohio - Mount Union had 13 different players score in a 79-61 women's basketball victory over Kenyon Tuesday night at Timken Gymnasium.
Mount Union (5-1) was led by senior Tori Rappach (Warren / Howland), who hit five three-pointers for 17 points while junior Brianna Gassman (Minerva) had a career-high 13 points and junior Sarah Hessel (Avon Lake) added 10 points.
Grace Connery led Kenyon (3-4) with 15 points and four rebounds.
Mount Union started the game with a 9-4 run. The Ladies fought back with a 8-4 surge to take their only lead of the night 12-11. Junior Sarah Turley (Sagamore Hills / Nordonia) hit a three-pointer at the 3:19 mark to spark a 12-0 run to end the quarter as the Raiders led, 23-12.
The Raiders started the second quarter extending their lead 24-12 with a foul shot by sophomore Corenna Maynard (Chagrin Falls / Kenston) before Kenyon cut the deficit to seven point 30-23, but a Rappach three-pointer lifted the Raiders lead back to double-digits. Mount Union led 37-29 at halftime.
Mount Union put the game away with an 11-2 run to start the second half which widened the lead to 48-31. The lead stayed over double digits the rest of the way.
Mount Union opens up Ohio Athletic Conference play next Wednesday, Dec. 4 at 7 p.m. hosting John Carroll.
