Leigh Ann Swartz

Leigh Ann Swartz is in her ninth season as head coach of theMount Union volleyball team and built the program into one of thetop programs in the Ohio Athletic Conference and Great Lakesregion.

Her 203-62 record ranks among the nation's top 25 active NCAADivision III coaches in career winning percentage (.766).

She has led the Purple Raiders to two OAC regular season titles(2012, 2013), two OAC tournament titles (2011, 2013) and four tripsto the NCAA Tournament (2009, 2011, 2012, 2013).

Swartz has been named OAC Coach of the Year twice in 2006 and2012 and has coached the Raiders to a school-record 31 wins andhighest national ranking in school history at No. 7 in 2013. Intotal, she has coached eight All-American selections, 10 All-OACFirst Team selections, three OAC Player of the Year picks and twoAcademic All-Americans.

Swartz came to Mount Union from Miami (Ohio) University, whereshe spent two seasons as an assistant coach. Before that, she wasan assistant recruiting coordinator and student coach at DePauw(Ind.) University. She also served as a women's basketball coachingintern at Denison University.

A 2004 graduate of DePauw with undergraduate degrees incommunications and kinesiology, Swartz also earned her master's insports studies from Miami (Ohio) in 2005. She was a three-yearvolleyball letterwinner at DePauw and a varsity letterwinner involleyball and basketball at Saint Mary's (Ind.) College.

Swartz, a native of Newark, Ohio and graduate of Newark CatholicHigh School, is married to Aaron Swartz '00, president of the MountUnion Alumni Association and they are the parents of twin boys.
