Kaitlyn Mallernee has joined the Mount Union staff as theassistant women's soccer coach. A 2010 graduate of the Universityof Mount Union, Mallernee played four seasons for the PurpleRaiders. She appeared in 58 games and made 53 starts as the team'sgoalkeeper.
Mallernee recorded nine shutouts in her time between the pipes,finishing with an .809 save percentage and 1.82 goals againstaverage. She logged 5,037 minutes and 25 seconds in net.
Well-respected by her peers, Mallernee was voted as the team'smost valuable player after three seasons (2007-09); in two seasons,she was a team captain (2008-09).
In 2008, Mallernee was an All-Ohio Athletic Conference HonorableMention.
A native of Dover, Ohio, Mallernee earned a B.A. in EnglishWriting at Mount Union. She is currently pursuing a Masters degreein Communications from the University of Akron.
In June-October 2010, Mallernee returned to her hometown andcoached Dover Middle School's soccer team. She ran practices andtaught fundamentals to seventh and eighth grade girls. She alsoassisted with the high school squad's goalkeepers.
