Tara Zimmer enters her first year as an assistant women's soccercoach at Mount Union.

A 2012 graduate of the Capital University, Zimmer played fourseasons for the Crusaders. She finished with 13 goals and 21assists in 85 collegiate matches.

In 2011, Zimmer helped Capital capture the first NCAA Tournamentwin in program history with a 1-0 victory over Alma (Mich.). Herplay during the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament allowed theCrusaders to win their first conference championship since 2007.She scored the lone goal in a 1-0 semifinal win over Otterbein andadded a pair of assists against John Carroll in the final.

One of four team captains, Zimmer ranked ninth in the nationwith 14 assists during her senior season. She also garnered manyaccolades, including NSCAA All-Great Lakes Region Second Team, OACMidfielder-of-the-Year, All-OAC First Team, and was the recipientof the first-ever Jenkins Family Award. Zimmer earned NSCAAAll-Great Lakes Region Second Team and All-OAC honorable mentionhonors in 2010.

Off the field, Zimmer held the secretary position forCapital’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. She acted as aliaison for the university’s athletic department over thepast year and was a coach and camp counselor at the West PointSoccer Camp during the summer of 2011.

A native of Vandalia, Ohio, Zimmer earned a B.A. in Leadershipand Management at Capital.
