Mount Union's volleyball team (23-4) finished a perfect 4-0 at
the Thomas More (Ky.) Invitational on Saturday and Sunday, October
13 & 14, running the Raiders' current winning streak to 10.
The Raiders defeated Monmouth (Ill.) in three sets (30-13,
30-20, 30-23) and won against host Thomas More in four sets (28-30,
30-22, 34-32, 34-32) on Saturday, October 13.
Against Monmouth, Melissa
Mahnke had 16 kills while Tracy
Reschke had 12. Versus Thomas More, Mahnke totaled 28 kills, Sarah Parker had 14 kills while Amanda
Kohler finished with 13 kills and 23 digs. Reschke amassed 60
assists and Sarah Dean added 28 digs.
Mount Union defeated Bluffton on Sunday, October 14 in straight
sets (30-28, 30-21 & 30-12). Reschke has 29 assists and four
service aces, Kohler finished with 13 digs and eight kills, Dean
had 12 digs and Mahnke totaled eight kills.
The Purple Raiders finished the tournament with a three set
(3-0) win over Spalding (Ky.) on Sunday. In the contest, Reschke
had 40 assists, Parker amassed 10 kills, Dean had 22 digs and
Mahnke finished with 14 kills.
Kohler was named the Tournament's MVP and Mahnke earned
All-Tournament Team honors.
Overall, the Purple Raiders have had 10 seasons of 20 wins or
more. The school record for wins in a season is 26, set in
2000.
The Raiders next host Marietta at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, October
16.
