ALLIANCE, Ohio--Number #2 seeded Mount Union (30-4) defeated # 7
seeded John Carroll (12-17) in four sets (28-30, 30-22, 30-18,
30-21) on Tuesday evening in Timken Gymnasium, advancing to the
Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament semifinals on Friday, November
2 in Ada, Ohio.
The Raiders were led by Melissa
Mahnke with 22 kills, Amanda
Kohler with 13 kills and 26 digs, Roni
Schroeder with 11 kills and Leah
Hirsch added 10. Sarah
Dean led the team in digs with 31, Nicole
Baka had 19 and Tracy
Reschke finished the match with 63 assists.
In other OAC match-ups, # 1 Ohio Northern earned a 3-0 victory
over #8 Marietta. Ohio Northern advances to the semifinals to
compete against the winner of # 5 Capital vs. #4 Baldwin-Wallace on
Friday, November 2 at 7 p.m. in Ada, Ohio.
Mount Union will next play #3 seeded Heidelberg, who won its
quarterfinal match, 3-1, against #6 seeded Muskingum.
The semifinal match will take place Friday, November 2 in Ada,
Ohio, starting at 5 p.m. Mount Union defeated Heidelberg 3-1 in
regular season play.
The win for the Raiders over the Blue Streaks marked their 16th
consecutive victory and the first time the program reached the
30-win plateau in a season.
Ohio Northern, the regular season OAC Champion and top seed
overall, wil host the semis & finals. The Tournament
Championship match takes place Saturday afternoon, November 3 at 2
p.m.
