(ADRIAN, Mich.)--Mount Union College's volleyball team won a
pair of matches in Michigan Saturday knocking off No. 17 in the
nation Hope (Mich.) College 3-2 (29-31,25-23,25-18,16-25,15-13) and
Adrian (Mich.) Collge 3-1 (24-26,25-18,25-17,25-23) in Adrian,
Michigan.
The wins lifted the Purple Raiders record to 22-8 overall on the
season and the win over Hope was the first against a ranked
opponent this season.
Against Hope, junior outside hitter Melissa Mahnke (North
Royalton/North Royalton) had 14 kills, 23 digs and four blocks to
pace Mount Union. Sophomore Roni Schroeder (Shelby/Shelby) also had
14 kills and freshman Julie Radigan (Olmsted Falls/Olmsted Falls)
had 44 assists.
It was more of the same against Adrian, as Mahnke had 17 kills
and 12 digs, Schroeder had 16 kills and senior Sarah Parker
(Geneva/Geneva) posted 14 kills. Radigan tallied 41 assists and
junior Nicole Baka (Streetsboro/Streetsboro) chipped in 23
digs.
Mount Union closes out the regular season Tuesday at 7 p.m.
against John Carroll University in an Ohio Athletic Conference
match at Timken Gymnasium.
