(ALLIANCE, Ohio)--Mount Union College's volleyball team rallied
from a 2-0 deficit to defeat John Carroll University 3-2 (17-25,
24-26, 25-17, 25-21,15-13) in an Ohio Athletic Conference match
Tuesday at Timken Gymnasium in Alliance.
The win boosted the Purple Raiders record to 23-8 overall, 6-3
in the OAC while the Blue Streaks fell to 17-11 overall and 3-5 in
the OAC.
Pacing the Purple Raiders were junior outside hitter Melissa
Mahnke (North Royalton, North Royalton) with 21 kills and nine
digs, senior middle hitter Sarah Parker (Geneva/Geneva) with 17
kills and three blocks while sophomore middle hitter Roni Schroeder
(Shelby/Shelby) who had 11 kills. Junior defensive specialist
Nicole Baka (Streetsboro/Streetsboro) added a team best 15 digs and
freshman setter Julie Radigan (Olmsted Falls/Olmsted Falls) totaled
49 assists and added eight digs to round out the leaders for Mount
Union.
With the win the Purple Raiders advance to the quarterfinals of
the OAC Tournament next Tuesday November 4th at 7 p.m. at a site to
be announced.
