(ALLIANCE, Ohio)--Mount Union College's volleyball team won its
third straight Ohio Athletic Conference match with a 3-0 sweep
(25-23, 25-23, 25-18) of Capital University at Timken Gymnasium in
Alliance, Ohio.
The Purple Raiders' record improves to 17-6 overall and 3-1 in
conference play while the Crusaders fell to 15-5 overall and 2-2 in
the Ohio Athletic Conference.
Raiders were paced by junior outside hitter Melissa Mahnke (North
Royalton/ North Royalton) with 16 Kills and 10 digs. Also
contributing were senior middle hitter Sarah Parker (Geneva/Geneva)
with 14 kills and three blocks and Sophomore Leah Hirsch
(Washington Courthouse/Frankfort Adena) with a team best .769
hitting percentage. Teammate sophomore defensive specialist Sarah
Dean (Strongsville/Walsh Jesusit) tallied 15 digs. Freshman setter
Julie Radigan (Olmsted Falls/Olmsted Falls) paced the offense with
36 assists.
Tonight's match raised money for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer
Foundation in the "Dig for the Cure."
Mount Union next plays Ohio Northern University in an OAC match
Friday at 7 p.m. in Ada.
