Late Surge Sends Women's Basketball to 3-0

Reigning Ohio Athletic Conference Player of the Week and senior forward Stephanie Schwartz (Farmdale/Maplewood) continued her solid play as she was 5-of-6 from the floor for a team-high 12 points to pace the Purple Raiders.

Freshman Amanda Rose (Uniontown/Green) had 11 points, while sophomores Taylor Hartung (Canton/Massillon Perry) and Lauren Forquer (North Canton/Green) each tallied season-highs with 10 points a piece as the other top performances for Mount Union.

Annie Wilson came off the bench hit 7-of-10 shots for a game-high 17 points to lead Bethany (1-1).

In fact it was Wilson who hit a three-pointer with 3:59 remaining to knot the game at 55, before the Raiders decisive run.

Bethany controlled the game early and held a 22-16 lead with seven minutes left in the first half.  Mount Union would outscore the Bison, 17-10 the rest of the half to take a 33-32 lead at the half.

Mount Union continues a season-long four-game homestand Saturday at 5 p.m. against Westminster (PA) College in Timken Gymnasium.
