(ALLIANCE, Ohio)--Mount Union College's volleyball team defeated
Capital University 3-2 (25-13,18-25,25-19,19-25,15-6) in a
quarterfinal match of the Ohio Athletic Conference Volleyball
Tournament Tuesday at Timken Gymnasium in Alliance, Ohio.
The fourth-seeded Purple Raiders improve to 24-8 overall and
take on top-seeded Ohio Northern University, a 3-0 win over No. 8
seed Otterbein, Friday at 7 p.m. in a semifinal match in Ada,
Ohio.
Capital season ends with a 24-9 record.
Mount Union was led by a balanced attack as sophomore Roni
Schroeder (Shelby/Shelby) had 13 kills, while junior Melissa Mahnke
(North Royalton/North Royalton), sophomore Leah Hirsh (Washington
Court House/Adena) and senior Sarah Parker (Geneva/Genva) each had
10 kills.
Freshman Julie Radigan (Olmsted Falls/Olmsted Falls) had 44
assists and junior Nicole Baka (Streetsboro/Streetsboro) had 20
digs as other top performers for the Raiders.
