Sophomore Lauren Forquer (North Canton/Green) came off the bench
to tally a career-high 15 points to go along with six rebounds,
while freshmen Nancy Faulhaber (Parma/Holy Name) and Amanda
Rose (Uniontown/Green) each had 12 points to pace Mount Union (5-2,
2-1 OAC).
Jessica Butzer and Amanda Schroeder each scored 13 points to
lead the Baldwin-Wallace (4-3, 1-2 OAC) to its first OAC win of the
season.
The Yellow Jackets opened the first half on a 14-5 run and the
B-W lead grew to 10 with 4:11 remaining in the period. Mount Union
rallied with an 11-3 run culminating in a three-pointer from
Faulhaber to make the score 32-30 with 1:52 left before the break.
B-W entered the locker room with a 34-30 advantage.
B-W opened the second half with a quick 6-0 run, but the Purple
Raiders once again rallied to cut the Yellow Jacket lead to two, at
47-45, when Rose scored on a layup at the 8:40 mark.
However, the Jackets responded with a 16-4 run to make the score
63-49 with 2:15 remaining. Six of Schroeder's 13 points came
during the run, leading B-W to the 67-54 victory.
Mount Union next plays Saturday at 3 p.m. in an OAC game at
Otterbein College in Westerville.
