(BLUFFTON, OH)--Mount Union College men's soccer team extended
its unbeaten streak to three games (2-0-1) and matched last
season's win total with a 2-1 victory Tuesday at Bluffton
University in Bluffton, Ohio.
The win also lifted the Purple Raiders record over the .500 mark
finishing non-conference play with a 5-4-1 record.
Mount Union opened the scoring when senior Matt Parnell
(Uniontown/Green) had his first goal of the season in the 17th
minute.
Bluffton (4-4-1) tied the game with a goal in the 39th minute and
it took just 41 seconds for the Raiders to answer on a goal that
turned out to be the game-winner from freshman T.J. Welch
(Columbia/Columbia Station).
Mount Union's defense held up over the final 50 minutes as
Bluffton had only eight shots total for the game as junior Bobby
Petras (Columbia/Columbia Station) had a save in goal to get the
win.
