Baldwin-Wallace wins its ninth straight game to raise its record
to 13-5 overall and 8-3 in the OAC, while Mount Union drops
back-to-back games for the first time this season to stand at 11-6
overall and 6-5 in the OAC.
The Jackets hot start allowed them to jump out to a 13-5
lead in the game's opening four minutes. B-W would
stretch that lead to as many as 11 points, 25-16 when Serena Farage
would nail a jumper with 8:46 to play in the half. Mount
Union would battle back to bring the margin to six points, 38-32 at
the break.
The second half started much like the first as B-W hit its first
two shots of the frame to take the lead back out to 10 points,
42-32. The Raiders would rally again this time closing the
gap to three, 49-46 with just over 10 minutes to play when Farage
and Rachel Quiring would hit back-to-back shots to put the Jackets
up again.
Mount Union would again close the margin to three points on
three separate occasions in the final three minutes but could not
get over the hump.
Amanda Schroeder scored 14 of her game-high 23 points in
the first half and Jessica Butzer had 16 points lead
Baldwin-Wallace.
Tessa Pohovey (Strasburg/Tusky Valley) continued her strong play
with a team-high 20 points, while Lauren Forquer (North
Canton/Green) came off the bench with 11 points for the
Raiders.
Mount Union will play two-straight on the road beginning
Saturday at 3 p.m. at Heidelberg University in Tiffin.
