Mount Union is now 8-7-1 overall on the season and 1-4-1 in the
OAC, while Muskingum falls to 6-10 overall and 1-5 in the
conference.
After a scorless first half, the Raiders got on the board in the
opening minute of the second half when Kevin Cindric
(Willowick/Eastlake North) knocked in a deflection off Muskie
keeper Andrew Miller for his team leading eighth goal of the
season.
Joey Merlo (Niles/Cardinal Mooney) added his fifth goal of the
season in the 60th minute to give Mount Union a commanding 2-0
lead.
Muskingum cut the lead in half in the 71st minute when Ian
Stipes scored off a header but the comeback ended there.
Mount Union goal keeper Jon Critell (Youngstown/Cardinal
Mooney) snagged two saves in getting the win.
The Raiders stay on the road traveling to Columbus to take
on Capital Saturday Oct. 24 at 3 pm.
