Both teams get one point in the OAC standings as Mount Union now
stands at 7-4-1 overall (0-1-1 OAC) while John Carroll is 6-4-3
overall (0-0-1 OAC).
The match was as close as the score throughout as each team
traded scoring chances. Mount Union finished with a 15-12
edge on shots.
The Raiders best chance came with a minute left in the first
overtime when Korey Smerk (Brook Park/Midpark) was open on the
right side and sent a shot just wide from 20 yards out.
John Carroll looked to score the game winner with 12 seconds
left in double overtime as a free kick from 45 yards out was
deflected in the box and scored, but was waived off as the Blue
Streaks were ruled offsides.
Both keepers also had solid outings and earned shut outs as
freshman Jon Critell (Youngstown Cardinal Mooney) posted six saves
for Mount Union, while Mike Telzrow had four saves for John
Carroll.
Mount Union's next game is Saturday at 1 pm at OAC-foe Ohio
Northern University in Ada.
