(COLUMBUS, OH)--Mount Union's volleyball team suffered its first loss to Capital since 2005 falling 3-1 (17-25, 25-17, 25-16, 25-22) Tuesday night at The Capital Center in Columbus.
Mount Union takes its first OAC loss (1-1) and are 13-3 overall, while Capital moves to 13-9 overall and remains undefeated in the OAC at 2-0.
All-American senior Melissa Mahnke (North Royalton/North Royalton) led the Purple Raiders with a double-double as she had 16 kills and 10 digs.
Fellow senior Sarah Parker (Geneva/Geneva) had nine kills, junior Sarah Dean (Strongsville/Walsh Jesuit) posted 14 digs and sophomore Julie Radigan (Olmsted Falls/Olmsted Falls) had 36 assists as the other top performers for Mount Union.
The Purple Raiders had won four-straight matches over the Crusaders with the last Capital win coming in a 3-0 sweep in Bexley on Oct. 8, 2005.
Mount Union's next match is also in Central Ohio as they travel to Westerville to take on Otterbein at 2 pm on Saturday.
