Switzer's Three-Pointer Gives Men's Basketball Win and OAC Tournament Bid

Mount Union evened its overall mark at 12-12 and at 6-11 in the conference will be the No. 7 seed and play a quarterfinal game at 7:30 p.m. next Wednesday at the No. 2 seed.

With the loss, Marietta falls to 12-12 overall and at 7-10 in the OAC is locked into the No. 6 seed and play at No. 3 seed next Wednesday.

Switzer's decisive bucket gave him a game-high 17 points, while Dave Pellerite (Olmsted Falls/Olmsted Falls) had 13 points as the other Raider in double digits.

Kevin Knab and Trevor Halter came off the bench with 16 and 12 respectively to pace the Pioneers.

Mount Union led 32-25 at the break and extended that lead to 55-35 on a Trevor Groot (Uniontown/Lake) layup with 9:38 left in the game.  Marietta then outscored the Raiders 25-5 over the next eight minutes when an Isaiah Creasap three-pointer with 54 seconds left tied the game at 60.   Switzer hit his shot and the Pioneers missed three chances to tie the game in the final 30 seconds.

Mount Union closes out the regular season at home Saturday at 3 p.m. against Ohio Northern at Timken Gymnasium in Alliance.  The annual alumni game will be at 1 p.m. Saturday and this year's senior class will be honored prior to tip-off.
