Slow Start Sends Men's Basketball to Loss at Otterbein

Otterbein never trailed and the win moved its record to 4-17 overall and 2-12 in the OAC, while Mount Union fell to 11-10 overall and 5-9 in the conference.

Brian Pollock scored 20 of his game-high 24 points in the first half and Cory Ratai had 19 to lead Otterbein.

Dave Pellerite (Olmsted Falls/Olmsted Falls) posted 21 points and Chris Switzer (Euclid/Stow-Munroe Falls) put 20 for Mount Union,

After the Cardinals hot start, they would stretch the lead to as many as 11 points before taking a seven-point lead, 38-31 at the half.

Pellerite would open the second half with a three to cut the margin to four before Ratai would nail three straight layups to push the lead back to 10 points.  Otterbein would maintain a double digit margin for the rest of the half until the final seconds.

Mount Union next plays Wednesday, Feb. 11 at 7 p.m., at nationally ranked Capital University at The Capital Center in Bexley.
